With a project cost of £14.5m and a total design and construction period of 26 months, this project showcases the best of collaboration across the project and client teams. Wokingham Borough Council commissioned design work to commence in December 2017, and completion of the build was achieved in February 2020.
The new leisure centre was constructed within a limited site area, on a campus with three schools in the immediate vicinity. The building will be used by the public and also the schools as an extension to their existing teaching facilities.
Key features include a sports hall, two studios, long term conditions gym, dedicated group cycle studio, 25m pool with additional learner pool, and a café space.
The event will begin at 5.30pm with a short introduction to the project followed by the site visit. PPE is not required and the event is free to attend.
