Tackling Modern Slavery in Construction

Constructing Excellence Berkshire and CIOB Joint Event

Do you understand what modern slavery is?

Do you know what to look for, the risks it brings to your work, and what to do if you suspect it is taking place on your project?

Our speakers will explain the issues, the particular risks in the construction sector, and what you need to do to take action.

Speakers:

  • Victoria Butler - Modern Slavery Coordinator, Thames Valley Police
  • Eddie Tuttle - Director of Policy, External Affairs and Research, CIOB
  • Russell Dann - Associate, ClarksLegal

Following on from the CIOB reports Modern Slavery: The Dark Side of Construction (2015) and Building a Fairer System: Tackling Modern Slavery in Construction Supply Chains (2016) our speakers will  also look at what progress has been made by our sector and the steps we can take to tackle the issue.

There are an estimated 45 million enslaved people globally with modern slavery reported in 167 countries.
