17:45hrs - Networking buffet

20:30hrs - Close
Venue: Thames Lido, Napier Road, Reading, RG1 8FR
Aim: The need to re-vision and invigorate procurement culture by moving away from traditional procurement models (e.g. single stage, cost-based) to innovative, deeply-collaborative approaches (e.g. partnering, value-oriented) has been long understood by those within construction. Despite different procurement models available and indeed promoted by the UK Government, the uptake of innovative approaches has been slow and patchy. A good example is the recently published the Construction Playbook (HM Government, 2020 & 2022) with its aim to improve quality and efficiency, and value for money for public sector procurement, has yet to make a significant, broad-based impact in the construction sector.
The aim of this open panel discussion is to bring a range of stakeholders perspectives on their experiences and insights on the way forward for construction procurement practices. The event will consist of a moderator, and a number of panellists who represent a broader spectrum of supply chain professionals who will present their perspectives using practical examples.
