Raising the Bar on Delivering Quality in Construction - An update

This event is run by CIOB Reading - please book direct using this link
Details
Join us to meet Caroline Gumble, CEO of the CIOB & attend this presentation delivered by Prof. Roger Flanagan, past president of the CIOB.
The industry is facing more legislation, regulations, codes, and standards, with the need for compliance and conformance - nothing new, it is happening in every industry. The new BS99001:2022 is specific to the built environment with requirements for the industry to deliver quality projects; it supplements ISO9001:2015. Ignorance of a standard is not a defence if something goes wrong.
Quality impacts every aspect of an enterprise: safety, profitability, reputation, repeat business, and liability. Quality means customer satisfaction, reliability, resilience, traceability, cost containment/control (right first time) and fitness for purpose. It is about the quality of the materials, design, workmanship, inspection, and service provision.
Remedying snags at the end of a project costs money and time. The insurers take quality management seriously, defects lead to claims and unhappy clients-nobody wins. Legislators, standard setters, public and private sector clients, and the public take quality very seriously. Once the project moves into the handover phase, the expectation is that everything works effectively, and efficiently, with no surprises.
The talk will look at the issues in quality planning on projects, with some of the requirements in BS99001:2022.
This event is free for CIOB members. Tickets are £15 for non-members, including members of CE Berkshire.
